MANAGEMENT FIRM LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

All companies doing business in the State of Florida must be registered with the State of Florida.

Visit www.sunbiz.org to ensure your Management Company is registered with the State of Florida.

Community association management firms must also be licensed by the DBPR.

Prior to 2009, a management firm did not have to be licensed.  Previously management companies were only required to register with the DBPR by filling out and recording information about the company on Business Entity Registration Forms (DBPR 0020-1 and DBPR CAM4303). A company was only required to register once.
New laws in effect beginning January 1, 2009 (Florida Statute 468.432) require community association management firms or other similar organizations responsible for the management of more than 10 units or a budget of $100,000 or greater to be licensed by the DBPR.  You can check to verify licensing by visiting here or by visiting the consumer section at www.myfloridalicense.com.  Florida Statutes may be accessed by visiting here.  Other useful links may be found on our links page.
Additionally, community association management firms agree by being licensed that they will only employ licensed CAM managers to provide community association management services.
